How to play Memory Pairs

Choose a round of Memory Pairs and settle into its rules. Match all eight pairs. Your result is the number of two-card turns used. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Treat the first round as a chance to learn the controls. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Review a difficult moment

When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round. Make the next step deliberately.

Your goal

Match all eight pairs. Your result is the number of two-card turns used. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Take a moment to understand the current position.

Step by step

  1. Turn over any face-down card.
  2. Choose a second card. Equal symbols stay visible.
  3. Unequal cards turn back after a short pause.
  4. Continue until every pair is visible.

Controls

Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Look at the feedback after the action.

A useful example

Seeing a star at the top left and another star in the bottom row gives you a matching pair on a later turn. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Keep the game’s format in mind.

Watch out for this

You cannot turn a third card while a mismatched pair is still being shown. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal.
