How to play Pyramid Solitaire

Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Pyramid Solitaire. Remove all 28 pyramid cards. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Choose a comfortable screen position before beginning. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Pyramid, stock and waste; one stock recycle. Free solo play, no wagering.

Make the controls familiar

Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart. Refer to the controls when needed.

Your goal

Remove all 28 pyramid cards. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Take a moment to understand the current position.

Step by step

  1. Only uncovered cards are selectable. Pairs total 13; a king removes alone.
  2. Click an exposed card or eligible pair to remove it.
  3. Draw when useful.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Controls

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Use the control method described here for this activity. Use the visible help when you are unsure of the next input.

A useful example

An exposed queen pairs with an ace; a jack pairs with a 2. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Consider the next action carefully.

Watch out for this

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
